Warwickshire moves to preserve affordable housing

Warwick District's new local planning guidelines have set out strict measures to ensure that aspiring first time buyers can get onto the first rung of the property ladder.
Click here for our first time buyers guideDevelopers that specialise in buying houses so that they can be knocked down and replaced by dozens of flats that can be sold off at high prices, are being singled out by the authorities in an attempt to bring more aspiring homeowners into the property market.
The plan is designed to prevent the creation of housing in Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Warwick, unless those applications are for the development of affordable housing for those looking to get on the first rung of the property ladder.
