UCB announces forging of links with two climate change-related charities
28-Mar-2007
UCB Home Loans, the specialist arm of Nationwide, has announced its decision to form links with two climate change-related charities, which may be of interest to would-be first time home buyers looking to reduce their environmental impact.
The lender is linking with EarthFireIce and Pure the Clean Planet Trust, which operates to help individuals and groups to offset the impact of their carbon footprint; in contrast, EarthFireIce acts to encourage a reduction in the size of the footprint, which might interest prospective first time home buyers who would like to become more environmentally aware.
"The introduction of Energy Performance Certificates for all homes going up for sale from June 1st onwards, will focus people's attention on energy saving issues," said Keith Astill, managing director at UCB Home Loans.
In addition, the firm has also implemented a number of green initiatives, including the running of awareness projects and a carbon-saving programme, in addition to the development of related publications.
UCB Home Loans offers a range of products, including buy-to-let and self-certification mortgages.
