The 'horrors' of house hunting
13-Mar-2007
Prospective first time buyers may be interested in research showing the bizarre or odd experiences people can have when hunting for their ideal home.
According to research by Smile Mortgages, when viewing properties 23.5 per cent of prospective homebuyers - which may include potential first time buyers - experienced something "unusual".
"Searching for a house can be a stressful experience for many people," said John Barker, head of mortgages at Smile.
"However, if people plan ahead … it will enable them to feel much better prepared for when they do eventually find their perfect home," he added.
Among the "top ten" list of odd house viewing experiences include the discovery that each family pet had been given its own bedroom and walking in on a couple at an intimate time in on of the bedrooms.
Smile Mortgages has been voted best direct mortgage lender 2006-07.
