Southampton offers 'diverse' property market
18-May-2007
In news which may be of interest to would-be first time home buyers, the property market in Southampton has been described as both "diverse and fast-moving".
According to Quentin Thatcher, a local director of Pearsons Estate Agents, as a result of the city's size, there is sufficient diversity within the market for buyers of any type - which may also include first time home buyers - to potentially satisfy their requirements.
Indeed, while some parts of the city will feature two-bedroom houses for £140,000, other locations will find the value of a two-bedroom flat at £160,000.
"Because Southampton is quite a large city, the diversity of property and location and prices is great," said Mr Thatcher.
"So in most cases, there should be a property to meet your requirements and budget, but it's the location that you'll have to compromise over," he added.
However, Mr Thatcher did note that there were potentially less first time home buyers in Southampton than would ideally be the case.
