RBS unveils 'most desirable' location for first time buyers
13-Sep-2006
The RBS first time buyer property index, published for the second year, has identified Lindley in Yorkshire as the best investment location for first time buyers, based upon factors such as affordability and the prevalence of new builds.
Other factors such as urban regeneration and good transportation links were also considered.
Lindley, near Huddersfield and only a short drive away from Leeds, currently offers relatively low house prices of around £140,000, when compared with the national average of £193,489.
In addition to new builds, a number of the town's 19th century mills are being transformed to become luxury apartments.
Other desirable destinations on the RBS first time buyer index include Bo'ness in West Lothian in second place, with Cardiff in Wales coming third.
RBS offers clients a range of financial products including mortgages, credit cards and personal loans.
