Parental help mortgage product launched

20-Mar-2008

Permission Homes South Midlands partnered with Mortgage Bureau, a Wolverhampton-based mortgage broker in order to develop a mortgage solution that can involve parental help without breaking the bank.

The pair have now introduced 1start to buyers of its properties across the south-Midlands which is a joint mortgage that takes into account the income of one parent as well as the buyer's, which improves the borrowing capabilities of first and second time buyers.

While guarantor mortgages have been available in the past, the partnership feels 1Start gives an advantageous calculation of the joint income, while encouraging mutual trust between buyer and parent.

Alison Reading, sales director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, commented: "With 1start our buyers can borrow up to 10 times their income and we are offering further help to buyers of selected properties by paying the five per cent deposit."

She added that the new product "opens up a new range of options to househunters".
