In a bid to give aspiring homeowners the boost they need to get onto the property ladder, Optima (Cambridge) is providing them with a selection of two bedroom properties at far below the going rate.

According to the Norfolk Advertiser, the properties are being offered for just £20,000, and as such has attracted great interest from people across the country looking to get a cheap entry onto the property ladder.

There are 20 flats available, and although they are only habitable for six months of the year due to planning restrictions and are in need of some modernisation work, those factors mean that the properties are being offered at unusually low prices and could provide an important first step for many aspiring homeowners.

However, while they will need some work on acquisition, the properties are still likely to prove much cheaper than similar properties in the area, and are already habitable should the new homeowner wish to wait before making changes.

Finding a deposit and finding a mortgage will both be much easier for first time buyers because of the low price, and many will also recognise the investment opportunities, as modernising the flats will enable them to sell the property on at a higher price - even if the properties are only habitable for half the year.
