Key workers in Manchester are benefiting as the city enjoys a boom in affordable housing developments.

A number of affordable housing schemes have already been completed and sold off to key workers and first time buyers across the region.

And renowned architect Will Alsop is currently completing his first UK residential development, in Manchester's New Islington, which will be sold to first time buyers and the city's key workers thanks to assistance from the local authority.

Meanwhile, private developers are also looking to help out, with Plumlife in the process of creating a number of shared ownership flats for aspiring homeowners who are struggling to make their way onto the first rung of the property ladder.
