Leeds sees £113m affordable homes scheme
28-Jul-2006
The Swarcliffe Public Private Finance Initiative, one of the country's eight Pathfinder schemes, is to repair 1,500 council houses, providing help for first time buyers with affordable homes.
Les Carter, a member of the Leeds City Council executive board responsible for the scheme, said: "Every day, people in Swarcliffe are seeing changes to the area around them as this scheme continues.
"This project will significantly improve the lives of all those who live in the Swarcliffe area."
He added: "We are listening to local people and working with contractors to ensure that the project can deliver real improvements for Swarcliffe in the least disruptive way."
The building work is expected to include affordable homes to rent as well as for sale.
