First time buyers in Scotland, who suffer from severe household allergies, will welcome the introduction of a new affordable housing scheme.

Specialists have designed the properties to be as allergy free as possible, replacing solvent based products with oil based materials and using clay walls to reduce the existence of dust mites and damp.

"Housing like this could be a lifesaver for people who can be ill for weeks if they come into contact with something they are allergic to. It's a fantastic idea," Lindsey McManus, deputy information manager at allergy charity Allergy UK, told the Scotsman.
