Hips delay 'may add clarity'

25-May-2007

In news which may be of interest to would-be first time home buyers, the recently announced delay to the launch of home information packs (Hips) has the potential to be a "good thing", it has been claimed.

According to David Collett, chairman of the Bespoke Hip Company, the delayed launch - which may affect prospective first time home buyers - will enable a greater period of time for preparation, in addition to providing greater scope for clarity.

The announcement to delay the launch of Hips was made on May 22nd.

"So from a consumer's point of view, I think [the delay is] a good thing and for the estate agencies managing their business, it's good to have a delay," said Mr Collett.

"At least they have given timelines now that will allow the battlefield to clear and the smoke to clear and to have greater clarity," he added.
