Green products 'not huge amounts of money'

21-May-2007

In news which may be of interest to first time home buyers looking to be more environmentally aware, green financial products do not involve significant additional costs, it has been claimed.

According to Natalie Collins, public relations officer for the Co-operative Bank, although green products involve cost increases of "a few pounds", such products should not be seen as a tool for customers - which may include first time home buyers - to get into debt.

"People want to be mindful, and because of all the science on the television and the government agenda about climate change they want to do something about it," said Ms Collins.

"I think people are becoming more environmentally aware and we're not talking about huge amounts of money," she added.

Co-operative Bank offers a range of financial products and services, including credit cards and mortgages, including those specifically aimed at first time home buyers.
