Giraffe launches new carbon offset mortgage
15-May-2007
In news which may be of interest to first time home buyers, Giraffe has announced the launch of a new range of carbon offsetting mortgages.
Available to both first time home buyers and repeat purchasers, the new range of mortgages allows clients to offset 5.5 tonnes of carbon emissions per annum, throughout the promotional period of the loan.
"With Giraffe we are always looking for innovative products and ways to meet our customer's needs," said Alison Pallett, head of consumer lending at the Bank of Ireland UKFS.
"We have launched the Carbon Offset range … to help our customers who want to do something for the environment, without compromising on rate," she added.
The amount of carbon offset each year has been based upon an estimation of the amount generated by a property each year; the loan is available on Giraffe's self-certification, buy-to-let and standard mortgage products.
