First time home buyer news: Green light for affordable housing in Cornwall
02-Jun-2006
The development of 39 affordable properties in St Agnes in Cornwall has been welcomed as catering for the needs of first-time home buyers in the area.
Figures show that there are almost 200 people in the area that are on the Homeseekers register, reports the website This is Cornwall.
Now, Penwinnick Affordable Housing is set to build a mix of one, two and three-bedroom houses in the area to solve the affordable homes crisis.
It is thought that seven of the homes will be available for rent through a registered social landlord and the rest will be sold at affordable prices that may suit first-time home buyers.
"This is 100 per cent affordable. It is thoroughly welcomed and I have heard no one speak against it. It really is a fantastic thing and a lot of hard work has gone into this," district councillor Toby Parkins told the website.
The company already has provisional permission to develop on the land as long as it is only used to build affordable homes.
It also claims that it has appointed architects to produce a detailed design for the site to deliver homes of a high quality.
