New statistics have revealed that more and more aspiring homeowners are building their own homes in a bid to save some money.

First time buyers are becoming more interested in building their own home because the high cost of house prices often makes it difficult when finding a deposit, never mind finding a mortgage.

And the study by dedicated self-build website Buildstore has revealed that first time buyers can not only save money when building, but also make money, as self builds can be worth as much as 30 per cent more than the original construction costs.

Buildstore also explained that creative mortgages for self builds can be easy to come by and can help first time buyers make their dream home become a reality.

However, Buildstore added that landlords are advised to get their solicitor to check access rights to the land to ensure they are able to connect gas, water, electricity and telephone services to it.
