First-time buyers 'in strong negotiating position'
28-May-2009
With many private sellers dropping their asking prices for homes in recent months,
first-time buyers have an opportunity to get on the first rung of the
property ladder.
At least that is the view of Jane Marr, director at online advertising service for private property sellers Little House Company, who thinks those looking to get their
first home are in "a very strong negotiating position" at the moment.
These comments come despite PropertyLive.co.uk reporting this month that 65 per cent of non-homeowners believe they will never have a house or flat that belongs to them.
"It's not only buyers that our private sellers want, but ones in good positions to move quickly, explained Ms Marr.
She added that people who have secured their
first mortgage could benefit from searching for homes that are being sold privately because owners "may be in a better position to say 'yes' to an offer from a first-time buyer".
