First time buyer news: New affordable homes scheme for Corby
28-Apr-2006
A total of 24 affordable homes are to be built in Corby as part of a £2.7 million development scheme.
The much-needed affordable homes are to be provided by Leicester Housing Association (LHA), reports the website 24-dash.
"We are delighted that LHA has secured Housing Corporation funding for Corby in the 2006-08 round and we look forward to continuing our very productive partnership with Corby Borough Council," Robert Nettleson, group regeneration director for LHA, told the website.
Aspiring first time buyers considering affordable housing options should work with a good mortgage broker. It is hoped that £540,000 of government funds will mean that the LHA can boost the number of affordable homes for rent and low-cost shared ownership housing.
First time buyers can make buying a new home affordable through a 'gifted deposit' scheme whereby a deposit is not required just the cost of professional and arrangement fees of £5000Mr Nettleson went on to say that the scheme demonstrates the faith that the Housing Corporation has in the LHA to deliver the much-needed accommodation.
LHA is the only Housing Association to manage to secure funding from the Housing Corporation through the 2006-08 bid to deliver affordable homes to Corby.
Mortgage lenders have risen to the challenge of creating a growing number of options for first time buyers.
