Mortgage Advice for First Time Buyers, First Time Buyer Mortgages and First Mortgage Advice

First-time buyer mortgage advice may still be crucial

29-Mar-2010

Those searching for their first home may still require first-time buyer mortgage advice, despite the chancellor increasing the stamp duty threshold.

As part of last week's Budget, Alistair Darling announced first-time buyers investing in a home worth up to £250,000 will not be required to pay the tax.

Helen Adams, managing director at FirstRungNow, says while this is good news for the market overall, many inexperienced buyers will still find it tough to secure a loan.

As such, taking first-time buyer mortgage advice could be a shrewd move in the battle to secure a property.

Ms Adams explains: "It is still very difficult for first-time buyers to afford their first home in many parts of the country because of the high deposit requirements and the lack of first-time buyer mortgages."

The chancellor believes his threshold rise will mean nine-out-of-ten first-time buyers will not have to pay stamp duty when buying a house.
