Work on the new affordable housing development, organised by South Somerset Homes, was completed much earlier than normal, reports 24dash.com, allowing residents to settle in ahead of schedule.

The seven new homes in Curry Rivel were constructed in almost half the time it normally takes, down from 40 weeks to 21 weeks, as a result of using new building techniques and reliable contractors.

"We are here to meet the communities' needs for quality affordable homes," commented Geoff Atkinson, chief executive at South Somerset Homes.

"The quality affordable homes that we have built in Curry Rivel have been given to families who come from Curry Rivel meaning that when we say local we really mean local."

Speeding up the construction of projects such as this helps to ease the affordable homes shortage in many areas and enable more aspiring homeowers to get on the first rung of the property ladder.
