A Norfolk estate agent has revealed that it is to concentrate its efforts solely on the social housing sector, believing it will become an important market in the future.

Howards has announced that it will focus on the social housing market because rising house prices will make affordable housing a vital market for aspiring first time buyers in the years ahead.

The broad term of social housing also encompasses key worker schemes and shared ownership programmes and the company has so far sold over 100 houses, despite only having been operating for the past 18 months at a time when the property market has seen something of a slump.

"We were the first into the market and have developed systems and procedures for marketing these homes," head of marketing and business development at Howards, Martin Cunningham, told the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press.

It is anticipated that the area will be one of major importance over the coming months and years, as property prices are predicted to show steady growth, leaving many aspiring homeowners with little option but to choose an affordable housing or shared ownership scheme.
