Energy conscious first time buyers urged to Smile

01-Nov-2005

Mortgage provider Smile has announced it will provide first time buyers with a free report outlining the energy efficiency of the property.

The report will give the house an energy rating, based on the existence of energy saving appliances and measures, as well as providing advice on what improvements could be made.

Aspiring homeowners will welcome the opportunity to gain an expert opinion on the property, as recent reports showed that more and more buyers are becoming energy conscious when house hunting.

As concerns over a dependency on traditional fuels grow, an increasing number of potential homeowners are choosing to buy homes that already come with energy saving appliances.

Figures from the report found that homes with loft insulation, double-glazing and energy efficient kitchen items were seen as more desirable by aspiring homeowners.

Developers of the new Smile mortgage have taken this into account and believe that the financial and environmental benefits of the Lifetime Tracker deal will appeal to first time buyers looking to get on the first rung of the property ladder.
