Burgundy 'a good place to invest'

26-Apr-2007

In news which may be of interest to would-be first time buyer property investors, Burgundy in France has been identified as a good location for British buyers.

According to Maud Rousseau from Rightmove.co.uk, although the region is known to be expensive for French buyers, British buyers - which may include first time buyers - will find Burgundy an inexpensive location.

"It's a good investment … if you buy a house in Burgundy, you can still get a very good price for an amazing property," said Ms Rousseau.

"It's very expensive for a French wallet, really expensive, but for an English wallet it's not at all," she added.

Indeed, according to the firm, British buyers should consider houses in need of restoration or renovation as French purchasers are less inclined to be interested in making such a purchase.

The Burgundy region is famous for dishes such as coq au vin and beef bourguignon.
