BSA survey reveals property buyer confidence

18-Jun-2009

A new study has indicated that 59 per cent of UK consumers think that now is a good time to buy property.

The Building Societies Association (BSA) research suggested that this represents a five per cent increase on the number of people who showed similar confidence in March this year and a significant hike in positivity year-on-year.

In June 2008, just 27 per cent of people surveyed thought that it was a good time to invest in bricks and mortar.

First-time buyers have also shown more confidence in getting mortgages and buying their inaugural home in the first half of 2009, according to the National Association of Estate Agents.

Paul Broadhead, head of mortgage policy at the organisation, commented: "People clearly recognise that with both property prices and mortgage rates having fallen, there are potential bargains to be found meaning that now is a good time to buy."
