The Legal & General Mortgage Club Awards were announced at a special ceremony last week.

Halifax Intermediaries was the biggest winner during the evening as it claimed the Best Overall Lender and Best Lender for Intermediaries accolades.

Mortgage brokers that make up the membership of the club cast their votes ahead of the awards evening, basing their decisions on lender activity over the last 12 months.

The night came at the end of the week which saw the Bank of England reveal a month-on-month rise in mortgage approvals in May.

Ben Thompson, director of mortgages at Legal & General, said: "Congratulations to Halifax Intermediaries for a strong showing this year.

"It's been an extremely difficult 12 months, but these lenders are showing that they can do well by maintaining very high standards."

Other awards during the ceremony included Abbey for Intermediaries' Best Lender for Mainstream Products prize and Nationwide for Intermediaries' gong for Best Lender for New Media.
