Bovis, Bellway, Persimmon and First Base will all receive grants from the Housing Corporation, reports 24dash.com.

"The New Partnerships in Affordable Housing programme has started to create a wider market for the delivery of affordable homes," commented Jon Rouse, chief executive of the Housing Corporation.

Responding to the success of the private firms, Mr Rouse explained that forging links with the private sector was important in ensuring the consistent delivery of new affordable homes.

"Last year Bellway delivered more than 800 affordable homes: direct access to grant funding will enable this element of our business to increase, providing more opportunities for people who need affordable homes, including first time buyers," added chief executive of Bellway, John Watson.
