Glasgow may be the centre of one of the UK's last remaining property hotspots, but growing prices are having a major impact on the opportunities for aspiring homeowners.

As such Glasgow Kelvin MSP Pauline McNeill has called on the Executive to increase its interest in affordable housing in the region, so that the city's potential first time buyers have an opportunity to get onto the first rung of the property ladder.
She believes that Glasgow's west end needs more affordable housing, and is urging the Executive to back the city council's efforts to buy land in the area so that it can build properties for aspiring first time buyers.

Ms McNeill explained: "I was particularly unhappy that the Glasgow Harbour development contained no plans for social or affordable housing."
But she is determined that the same fate will not befall the west end, and is hopeful that the Executive will provide funding for the council to buy the £12 million worth of land so that affordable housing can be built on the land.
