Affordable homes set for south east

Residents in the south-east of England have called on the Regional Assembly to invest in more affordable housing.
Click here to see what properties are on the market in your area - whether you buy alone or with othersResearch carried out by MORI, and commissioned by the South East England Regional Assembly, has found that many aspiring homeowners in the area are desperate for affordable homes to give them an opportunity to get onto the first rung of the property ladder.
As part of the Assembly's consultation on the development of its South East Plan, the results will be used to set out the region's 20-year vision.
Affordable housing for first time buyers is a major concern for aspiring homeowners in the region, which is still suffering from some of the highest property prices in the country.

But the Assembly's chief executive, Paul Bevan, pointed out that building new houses would not be the only way of helping more aspiring homeowners onto the first rung of the property ladder, with other options such as encouraging joint ownership schemes also to be considered.
