17-May-2007

In news which may be of interest to first time home buyers, many Britons would like to purchase a property abroad, it has emerged.

According to research published by Bank of Scotland International (BSI), 42 per cent of Britons - which may include first time home buyers - would consider either moving abroad or simply purchasing a property overseas.

"If you are planning to leave the UK to live temporarily or permanently overseas, you need the right products and services in place so that you have a firm foundation for your finances, no matter where you are," said Tony Wilcox, managing director of BSI.

Among the possible locations for living, ten per cent of Britons would choose Australia, although Spain and France were also popular destinations, scoring five and six per cent respectively.

BSI offers a number of financial services and products, including mortgages and financial planning.
