'Everywhere' in Bradford on the up

19-Apr-2007

The West Yorkshire town of Bradford could be a good place for first time buyers to get on the housing ladder, according to one of the region's property specialists.

Salim Khan, a spokesperson for Meridian Property Management, said that thanks to regeneration, Bradford as a whole is "on the up", which could make it a potential hotspot for first time buyers.

Property prices have also not yet "peaked", according to Mr Khan, suggesting first time buyers could be advised to act quickly to get arguably lower prices.

"I do not think that there is a 'worst' area in Bradford anymore, everywhere is on the up," Mr Khan said.

"Areas that used to be thought badly of ten years ago are up and coming now, areas such as Canterbury and Ravenscliff."

He illustrated the point by explaining that houses in Canterbury that were worth £20,000 six years ago are now worth five times as much.

Bradford is situated just 9.5 miles away from Leeds, suggesting that first time buyers could look in Bradford for a house knowing that a commute to a large city is short.
